Reports indicate that the futuristic Chrysler minivan concept known as the Chrysler Portal could enter production by 2020. While that may seem like a ways off, it’s a relatively short time in the automotive world. We initially saw the Chrysler Portal concept back in 2017 at CES.
According to Automotive News, the vehicle will go from concept to production in 2020, with the same name which bodes well for the features we’ve seen. As the automaker transitions itself into a “people movers” brand, it’s no surprise that they’re looking to build on the success of the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica.
Make no mistake, though; the Chrysler Portal isn’t just a reskinned Chrysler Pacifica. The futuristic minivan is an all-electric vehicle billed as a “six-passenger multi-purpose vehicle” and was reportedly designed by and for the millennial generation.
The concept vehicle shows off a look and feel that we haven’t seen before with opposing sliding doors, a minimalistic and sleek interior, and advanced safety and driving technology like SAE Level 3 semi-autonomous driving features that allow for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication.
While the Chrysler Portal is still in the pre-production phase, we’re incredibly excited to see where it goes. In the meantime, visit our Roseville, MI car dealership today to explore our current new and used models and take a test drive.
